Celebrate ageing

In previous posts I’ve started talking about how I now celebrate my menstrual cycle.

Controversial?

And now I’m going to suggest that you should also enjoy getting older.

Because we should celebrate every day that we’re alive and well anyway. And that we have an opportunity to be be better everyday.

But also because it means we’ve got more opportunities to learn, develop and live well.

And, because if we can celebrate and enjoy ageing I believe that we can also honour our health and our bodies to ensure that we age well.

Which means the following:

  • Paying attention to posture, to avoid future aches and pains.

  • Enjoying a mixture of exercise activities to include strength training, relaxation and stretching as well as a degree of impact and interval training to ensure that we keep our bones, and heart strong.

  • Eating a nutrient dense diet - plenty of leafy greens, lean proteins, healthy fats, complex carbohydrates.

  • Limit alcohol and caffeine and processed foods
    Sleep well for brain health

  • Manage stress

  • Practice gratitude and forgiveness

  • Have fun

  • And a big one….

  • Knowing your purpose, and why you’re here and what impact you want to make on the world….whether it’s through your family, your work, your community activity, your art, your skills. Something that keeps you going, and keeps you wanting to keep going. So that you feel fulfilled and energised.

All these are as important an investment in your future as your investment in your pension…

….which reminds me I must also sort out my pension.
