How do you improve your health in your 40s?
Wow.
That’s a big question.
In order to answer it you need to answer a whole lot of questions. Get ready…..
In fact, I’d suggest you make some notes….and see if you can find your own answer.
What does health mean to you?
Is it about having more energy, or being able to run 5K, or going to the gym regularly, or lifting your own bodyweight, or drinking less alcohol, or bouncing out of bed, or changing your relationship with food, going to bed earlier?
There are infinite answers to these questions and only you really know the answer. It’s worth working out what it means first. Some other questions might help.
When in the past have you felt really healthy?
What did that feel like to you? Did it answer any of the questions above in number 1 above.
What is different now? (and being older isn’t the only answer, ageing isn’t to blame for everything!)
What do you feel is unhealthy in your life now?
You probably know the answer to this. Deep down. And this is where it gets tricky, as you may not feel you’ve got control over it. It could be stress at work, or staying up too late, or family stress, or too many takeaways, or too much reliance on a wind-down glass of wine, or too much caffeine, or not enough exercise.
How would you like to feel 3 months from now?
Health isn’t an overnight fix. There’s no magic pill. There’s a lot of magic in sleep, regular exercise and eating plenty of veg/drinking enough water. But they don’t work overnight. Well, apart from sleep.
So, ask yourself, where would you like to feel the most improvement in 3 months?
Enough of the questions, do I hear you say?
Well, if you’ve jotted down some answers to 1, 2, 3 and 4 you might find some answers.
If you’d like some help with this then you could always take up one of my 1 hour express health consultation sessions? We take one area of your health and create an action plan.
