New Year’s Resolutions
Love them or hate them, they are everywhere at this time of year.
I’m not so keen. Of course, I see a mini boost to my classes and enquiries for personal training, so it’s good for business.
But sometimes I think this all or nothing, ‘live your best life’ mentality can be a bit damaging.
We can end up feeling like we’re not doing enough. Not enough exercise, not eating well enough, not happy enough, not successful enough.
This not-enoughness (yes, I know that’s not a real word, forgive me) can lead to us feeling like giving up before we’ve started, to letting the negative voices in our heads win.
And in the social media age we can end up making ourselves feel worse when we see the highlight showreels of other lives.
I love the idea of setting intentions. Of finding a theme.
Of taking time to ease into the New Year and find your way.
And of taking stock. Deciding what you need to leave behind, and what you need to nurture and nourish.
So, I invite you to sit down with a hot cup of tea and to gaze out of the window for a moment. Take a deep breath and ask yourself, what do I need more of this year? And what do I need less of? And let that guide you, hold those thoughts and see where they take you.
There’s a more detailed description of this on a blog I wrote for Freelance Mum here - give it a go.
Or if you’d like a chance to take stock, relax and create some positive intentions in a relaxed and nourishing environment, my next retreat will take a look at just this - along with some mindful movement, gentle pampering and nourishing food. Take a look here.
Or for a more one to one approach, book in a 75 minute consultation to explore your health and wellbeing intentions for the year ahead.
