What is online health and fitness coaching?

What doesn’t it mean?

My clients often have an idea in their heads about what it means to work with a personal trainer or health coach.

It’s often about challenging workouts, restrictive meal plans, being told what to do. And that this is in a gym or studio surrounded by mirrors and heavy looking equipment.

This doesn’t work for me.

And they’re working with me because it doesn’t work for them.

Online coaching is surprisingly intimate. It helps you get to the bottom of your motivations, your reasons ‘why’ and to set goals and success criteria that are realistic AND meaningful in the wider scheme of life.

Finding more joy in exercise and health habits.

When it comes to goals, feelings are often key.

Clients want to feel happier, more energetic, more joy in their lives.

And this isn’t as clear as a mark on a scale or a tape measure or a monitor.

Creating happy habits

I firmly believe in the magic power of exercise. The magic power it can wield over our mental and physical health and wellbeing.

But, it’s got to be a happy and consistent habit for it to wield that power.

If you hate the gym, don’t join and gym and then feel guilty about going?

If you hate running, don’t do the couch to 5k (although I do think most people can be taught to like or even love running…)

Find what you do love.

And move more.

And that’s what I explore with you online. We find out what you love, and what you don’t. Connect the task to the feeling it provides. You may not LOVE the workouts but you feel on top of the world afterwards.

So I don’t need to be with you in person, but I can check in on those feelings and progress and inspire you to keep going forward.

How does it work?

Usually we meet  weekly and then fortnightly over Zoom, Skype or the old fashioned telephone over a period of 3-6 months depending on your goals and needs. We will agree how you will progress with your health and wellbeing goals, so that those goals are truly what you want and need.

I have some tools I’ll use, and a programme I follow, but you get to set the pace and the direction.

So that you embed habits that last, not just while we are working together, but into the future too.
