You’ve been through a lot.
Your experience is different to mine. But I am sure it has had its challenges. Working more, home working, homeschooling, solo parenting, a lack of social interaction. All cause stress.
I know many of my lovely clients have complained of weight gain in lockdown. It’s completely understandable. A combination of high stress hormones, lower activity levels and harder to access food supplies at the beginning led to all sorts of change.
But don’t go hating yourself.
Take action by all means.
But take action with a sense of self love, of self care.
Nourish yourself with food that fills you with joy (I find vegetables quite joyful, especially fresh from my veg box).
Move your body in a way that nourishes both body and soul. Take a walk, do press ups against a tree, try out a aeroplane arms down a hill, dance around the kitchen, swim in the sea.
Take an opportunity to rest. Go to bed early. Switch off screens. Meditate before breakfast. Cloud watch. Take 3 deep breaths.
And then take them again.
Feel good works.
It helps you build healthy habits.
It helps you sustain healthy habits.
It helps you love your body whatever shape it is in.
Love your body.
It is living through a global pandemic!! It has survived so far. It carries you through the stress. So be kind. Nourish, move and rest.
I run an online mentoring programme to help nudge and nourish you into healthy behaviour change. Find out more here.
